Downing Street silent on reshuffle reports

Downing Street tonight refused to comment on reports that John Reid has been appointed Defence Secretary in Tony Blair’s Cabinet reshuffle.

According to Sky News, Geoff Hoon has also been moved to Leader of the Commons while Patricia Hewitt becomes Health Secretary.

But there was no immediate confirmation of the announcement. Earlier David Blunkett emerged from Downing Street to tell reporters that he had a new job.
