Iraqi militants killed during attack on US checkpoint

Insurgents attacked coalition forces in the western Iraqi town of Ramadi today, setting off a battle that killed 12 militants, an Iraqi soldier and two Iraqi civilians, the American military said.

The fighting also wounded four insurgents and two Iraqi soldiers, and lightly injured two US Marines, the military said.
