Man attacked by 20 teenagers

Detectives in England are tonight hunting a gang of 20 teenagers who attacked a man as he walked home with his two-year-old son.

The 29-year-old victim had been to shops near his home in Salford, Greater Manchester, when a gang of yobs began shouting abuse.

The man anticipated trouble and gave his son to a family friend to take home.

He then turned down an alleyway off Grosvenor Road and was followed by four male youths, aged around 15, who shouted more abuse.

He confronted the youths and chased them down the alleyway but they were joined by 16 other teenagers, including girls, of around the same age.

The gang attacked the man and hit him about the face and head with a heavy object before running away.

The victim required hospital treatment for a two-inch gash above his eye following the attack, which took place at 8.30pm yesterday.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: ā€œIf anyone witnessed the incident or has any information regarding the youths, they are asked to contact Salford CID.ā€
