TV doctor banned from London marathon

Television doctor Hilary Jones and his son have been banned from competing in the London Marathon again, officials confirmed today.

Dr Jones, aged 51, let 24-year-old son Sebastian run in his place without official permission. The injured GMTV doctor had asked if Sebastian could take his place but had been refused.

Sebastian ran the race anyway and finished in three hours and eight minutes.

A Flora London Marathon spokesman said: “Eighty two thousand people applied for this. Despite asking us and us refusing them, he went ahead and gave his entry to his son.

“Both Hilary Jones and his son, Sebastian, will be banned from our events in the future.

“It is an irresponsible thing to do. If someone falls ill it causes us and causes medical people severe difficulties.”
