Rainier's son takes over in Monaco

Monaco’s palace prepared for what appears the imminent death of Prince Rainier tonight by announcing that his bachelor son and heir has taken over the royal powers.

The announcement was made in a brief statement from the royal palace, which gave no updates on the health of the 81-year-old Rainier who is in intensive care and being treated for breathing, kidney and heart problems.
