Tung appointed to Chinese advisory body
Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa was named a vice chairman of a high-level Chinese government advisory panel today, apparently confirming his departure as the territory’s leader.
Tung was named one of 24 vice chairmen of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference by a vote of 2,065 to 21 at the closing session of the body’s annual meeting. There were 20 abstentions.
