Report: Blunkett 'not father' of lover's son

David Blunkett is not the father of his former lover’s baby son, The Sun reported tonight.

Tomorrow’s edition of the paper said that a court-ordered DNA test had confirmed that the former Home Secretary was not the father of month-old Lorcan, son of Kimberly Quinn.

Speaking from his London home tonight Mrs Quinn’s husband Stephen said: “We are making no comment whatsoever.”

The newspaper quoted a close friend of Mr Blunkett, 57, as saying he received the news ``with great sadness''.

Mrs Quinn, 44, gave birth to Lorcan last month.

The politician has claimed the child is his, reportedly seeking DNA tests to prove he is the father of Lorcan and his two-year-old brother William.

Mr Blunkett quit as British Home Secretary in December after it emerged that his private office had intervened in a visa application by Mrs Quinn’s nanny.

He had a three-year affair with Mrs Quinn, who is the publisher of The Spectator magazine, starting shortly after her marriage in 2001.

The relationship broke down last summer, since when the pair have been involved in acrimonious disputes over access to both children.
