Homemade bombs explode near Milan police station

Two small handmade explosive devices detonated in Milan near Carabinieri paramilitary police barracks on Tuesday night, an official said.

No one was injured.

The bombs were placed in a waste bin outside the building, said a Carabinieri official in the northern Italian city.

The second device exploded after police had already reached the scene.

Investigators believe the devices may have been planted by hooligans or by extreme-left militants, the official said.

Two other explosive devices went off at roughly the same time in Genoa, Italy’s ANSA news agency said.
