Aceh rebels abandon independence demand
Rebels in Indonesia’s quake and tsunami-devastated Aceh province agreed today to drop their demand for independence.
Peace talks with the government, being held in Finland, continued in a spirit of ”goodwill”, said Damien Kingsbury, an Indonesian specialist from Australia’s Deakin University who is part of the rebel delegation.
