Bad hair day sees check-in worker suspended

An airport check-in worker in Britain has been suspended for having too much gel in his hair, it was revealed today.

Colleagues of John Graham, aged 20, protested by turning up for work at Stansted Airport in Essex with their hair brushed up Mohican-style.

The British GMB union protested today at the suspension, accusing the ground handling firm Swissport of being too severe.

The union said Mr Graham had already conformed to the company’s dress code by reducing the amount of gel he used on his hair.

GMB organiser Gary Pearce said the suspension was “outrageous”, adding: “Workers are only ever suspended for gross misconduct such as stealing or fighting.

“It is madness to threaten a person’s living over something like this.”

A disciplinary hearing is expected to be held next week.
