Family arrested in hunt for Madrid bombers
Spanish police today arrested a Moroccan family suspected of having direct links to last year’s Madrid train bombings.
The four – a married couple in their 40s and their two sons – were arrested in the Madrid suburb of Legane, the Interior Ministry said.
It said the four were believed to have helped two bombing suspects flee Madrid after a collective suicide by seven men believed to have played key roles in the March 11 attacks.
The bombings, which killed 191 people and wounded more than 1,500, have been claimed in videos by militants saying they acted on behalf of al-Qaida.
