Thousands to donate day’s pay to victims of Asian tsunami
Thousands of workers across the country are expected to donate a day's pay today to the victims of the St Stephen's Day tsunami disaster in the Indian Ocean.
A number of major employers are taking part in the Work a Day for Free campaign in aid of the Irish Red Cross Asia Disaster Appeal.
However, the organisers of the campaign said interest had been highest among small and medium-sized companies.
The organisers have also called on workers whose employers are not participating in the scheme to make a private donation to the Red Cross.
