Incoming US AG questioned on torture policies

The man set to become the next US Attorney General vowed to abide by international treaties on prisoner treatment today.

But critics in the Senate claimed policies Alberto Gonzales supported led to the torture of terrorism detainees and also protested at his closeness to President Bush.
