139,703 confirmed dead in tsunami

At least 139,703 people are reported dead around southern Asia and as far away as Somalia on Africa’s eastern coast, most killed by massive tsunamis that smashed coastlines after a magnitude 9 earthquake off Indonesia’s coast December 26.

The United Nations estimates the total number of dead will exceed 150,000.
