Mother accused of hurling newborn to his death

A Spanish woman has been arrested on suspicion of killing her newborn son by throwing him out the window of a third-storey apartment.

The 30-year-old woman’s mother and sister, who lived with her, were also arrested in the town of Burjassot in eastern Valencia province, police said.

A spokesman said the mother’s motive was not known.

Reports said the infant still had his umbilical cord attached when police found him barely alive on the pavement. The child died later in a hospital.
