The death toll from the Asian tidal waves – currently around 50,000 – could eventually double due to the risk of disease, the World Health Organisation warned tonight.

The death toll from the Asian tidal waves – currently around 50,000 – could eventually double due to the risk of disease, the World Health Organisation warned tonight.

“There is certainly a chance that we could have as many dying from communicable diseases as from the tsunami,” Dr. David Nabarro, a WHO expert, said in Geneva.
