Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip hit a snag today when a parliamentary committee failed to pass a bill outlining plans to compensate uprooted Jewish settlers.

The 8-8 vote in the Knesset Law Committee could hold up the bill’s approval in parliament by several months, said Rona Perlis, a spokeswoman for the committee.
