Hurricane force winds batter northern France

A powerful storm packing hurricane-force winds lashed northern France today, and forecasters said the system could sweep over the Paris.

Winds clocked at up to 80 mph pounded the north, prompting authorities to raise the nation’s weather alert to orange, the third-highest of four levels.
