Suspected separatist militants launched a series of co-ordinated bombings across India’s north-eastern state of Assam today, wounding at least 31 people, some of them critically.

The four attacks – two were bombs hidden in bicycle bags, one was a grenade thrown outside a hospital and another was a bomb set off outside a rail station - occurred in Gauhati, the capital of Assam, and neighbouring towns.
