Philippines braces for typhoon after storm kills 350
Winds and rain from an approaching typhoon hampered rescue efforts today in the eastern Philippines, where at least 350 people died in flash floods and landslides in the storm-weary region.
About 150 others were missing and feared dead after a powerful rainstorm washed away bridges and roads yesterday, isolating several towns in the provinces of Quezon and Aurora, about 40 miles east of Manila.
