A suicide bomber blew up a car at a police checkpoint in western Iraq today, killing seven government security force members and injuring nine.

A suicide bomber blew up a car at a police checkpoint in western Iraq today, killing seven government security force members and injuring nine.

US forces immediately sealed off the road after the attack in Baghdadi, 120 miles from of the capital.

Dozens of Iraqi security forces have died in attacks throughout the country following the US led assault on Fallujah earlier this month.

In Baghdad, two American soldiers were killed and three wounded by a roadside bomb. The victims were members of the US army’s Task Force Baghdad, which is in charge of security in the capital.

Elsewhere, a US soldier died and two were injured in a vehicle accident in eastern Iraq.
