Minister says new election solution to Ukraine crisis

New elections in Ukraine are the only possible solution to the current stand-off between rival presidential candidates, Dutch Foreign Minister Ben Bot said today.

Bot, speaking in the capacity of the Dutch presidency of the European Union, said new elections were the “ideal outcome” of the current stand-off between Western-leaning opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko and his Russian-backed rival, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych.
