Moscow's man declared winner of Ukranian election

Pro Moscow Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych was declared the winner of the Ukrainian presidential election today, deepening a crisis sparked by claims that ballot was rigged.

Pro Moscow Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych was declared the winner of the Ukrainian presidential election today, deepening a crisis sparked by claims that ballot was rigged.

Yanukovych got 49.61% of Sunday’s vote, against Western leading Viktor Yushchenko’s 46.61%, the Central Election Commission said in giving its final results.

A huge crowd of Yushchenko supporters have gathered in central Kiev over the past three days to try to push for the election results to be overturned and Yushchenko declared the winner.
