Death toll in Fallujah rises

A US general said today that 31 American troops and six Iraqi soldiers have been killed so far in the battle to retake the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah.

Lieutenant General John Sattler, commander of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, made the remarks at a US base near Fallujah, which lies 40 miles west of Baghdad.
