Putin signs Kyoto protocol

President Vladimir Putin has signed the Kyoto Protocol, giving the final stamp of approval to bring the global climate pact into force early next year, the Kremlin said today.

Both houses of Russia’s parliament have already ratified the protocol, which aims to stem global warming by reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.
