World unprepared for flu epidemic, expert warns

An international vaccine expert warned that it was only a matter of time before a deadly flu pandemic struck and that the world was ill-prepared to cope with a major outbreak of the disease.

“We are talking about a killer influenza that would kill probably tens of millions of people,” John Clemens, director of the International Vaccine Institute, said in Seoul, South Korea. “We’re not talking about if, we’re talking about when.”
