Cable car collapses in Austria
A cable car gondola carrying as many as four people crashed to the ground in eastern Austria today, injuring passengers, state broadcaster ORF reported.
Rescue workers were at the scene in Gmunden, 120 miles east of Vienna. It was unclear how many people were injured or how severely.
A police officer said the gondola was at a height of 30-50ft when it plunged into a parking lot, the Austria Press Agency reported.
The gondola fell after the car ahead slid back and struck it, APA reported. It was unclear whether passengers on the other car had been injured.
The cable car line has 26 gondolas that transports passengers from Gmunden to Gruenberg, a mountain popular with hikers.
