EU proposes closer co-operation on crime

The European Union today proposed steps to improve the exchange of information among EU nations to help fight terrorism and other crimes.

The European Commission proposes to amend a 1959 treaty on criminal data exchanges by requiring EU nations to immediately inform other EU members if they convict any of their nationals.
