The blaze, which started before dawn, was in north Philadelphia in the United States.

Fire officials said the victims were two adults and four children, ranging in age from two to 12.

The terraced house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Five of the victims died at the scene.

The sixth, a two-year-old boy, died after being taken to hospital.

Flames from the two-story house spread to adjacent homes, but no other injuries were reported.

Officials said it would take days to find the cause.
