The elderly mother of Baghdad hostage Ken Bigley was taken to hospital today for a second time.
Paramedics were called to treat Lil Bigley, 86, at her home in Walton, Liverpool.
Mrs Bigley was taken to hospital by ambulance after they spent half an hour with her in the house.
Former Beirut hostage Terry Waite was with her in the house after arriving at lunchtime on a private visit to show his support for the family.
Earlier British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the British government "will continue to do whatever we can" for Kenneth Bigley as he arrived in Brighton for Labour's annual conference.
A posting on an Islamic Internet site earlier today claimed that an al Qaida-linked group has killed British hostage Kenneth Bigley.
However, the British Foreign Office in London said it was aware of such a claim, but described it as a "discredited" site.
“We don’t think it’s anything to be taken too seriously,” the statement said.
