At least five killed in suicide attack on police
At least five people were killed and 20 injured when a suicide bomber blew up his car as a police convoy drove by in central Baghdad today.
Six police cars were driving toward Rasheed Street when a car coming from Haifa Street – the site of a bloody car bombing earlier this week – drew up to them, said policeman Medhafar Ismail.
“When it reached them, the driver blew himself up,” Ismail said. “There was certainly a suicide bomber inside.”
A witness said shrapnel rained down on his stationary shop in the nearby Al-Mutanabbi Street.
