Space capsule crashes to Earth

The Genesis space capsule, which promised scientists potential clues to the origin of the solar system, crashed to Earth today

Hollywood stunt pilots in helicopters were due to hook the capsule’s parachute as it glided over the Utah desert after falling from space.

But the fridge-sized capsule – holding a set of fragile disks containing billions of atoms collected from solar wind – hit the desert floor after its parachute apparently failed to deploy.
