Probe into double death at prison

An investigation is underway after two prisoners died in an incident at Strangeways prison in north Manchester, it was confirmed today.

Greater Manchester Police said that the deaths are being treated as suspicious and inquiries are underway to establish the nature of the incident.

A spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 7am this morning police were notified of the deaths of two prisoners at Strangeways prison in north Manchester.

“At this stage the deaths are being treated as suspicious and investigations are continuing.”
