Quakes rock Turkish resorts

Two moderate earthquakes shook Turkey’s Aegean coast hours apart today.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Both quakes had preliminary magnitudes of 4.3.

The first was centred in the popular resort town of Bodrum.

The second, an hour later, shook the resort town of Datca further south.

Quakes are frequent in Turkey, much of which lies atop the active North Anatolian fault.

Two devastating earthquakes killed about 18,000 people in north-western Turkey in 1999.
