Car bomb explodes in Baghdad suburb

A car bomb blast rocked a Baghdad suburb today, with both witnesses and Iraqi police reporting several casualties.

Ambulances and police raced to the Seidiyeh neighbourhood in the south west of the capital and firefighters worked to douse the flames. The blast was near a local police station.

Militants also fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a fire station in the Baghdad neighbourhood of al-Salihiya, the US military said. One person was wounded.
