Ex republican guard terror suspect held

American troops have detained a senior commander of Iraq’s former Republican Guard, US forces said today.

Sufyan Maher Hassan is suspected of planning and financing attacks against Iraqis, Iraqi Security Forces and multinational forces, said Major Neal O’Brien of the 1st Infantry Division.
