Bus crash kills 19 in India

A crowded bus skidded off a mountain road and fell into a gorge in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir today, killing 19 passengers and injuring 40 others, doctors said.

The accident occurred near Sumbal village, about 35 miles north-east of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu-Kashmir state, said Tariq Ahmad, a doctor at a nearby hospital.
