A 50-year-old man who hiccupped non-stop for two years has finally found peace and quiet – after undergoing surgery.

The attack started after Shane Shafer, from Texas, suffered a stroke, since when he has had to have 10 injections a day to bring some relief. The only way to “enjoy” a half-hour respite was to make himself vomit.
