Blast was gas explosion not bomb, say officials

Turkish officials today quickly denied a television report that a suspected terrorist and three others were injured in a bomb explosion, saying instead that a Turkish tourist had been killed in a gas explosion in southern Turkey.

Private CNN-Turk television also quickly corrected their report, broadcast as tensions run high in Turkey ahead of US President George W. Bush’s arrival later today.
