Turkish police today sought to ease concerns about security following bombings in Turkey’s capital and largest city that killed four people ahead of a weekend visit by US President George Bush and a NATO summit next week.

Authorities said militant leftists were suspected in yesterday’s blast in Istanbul, which killed four people and wounded 14, and an attack earlier in the day outside the Ankara luxury hotel that wounded three people, including two police officers.
