India and Pakistan announced today they would establish a new hotline to alert each other of potential nuclear risks.

In a joint statement by the South Asian rivals, after two days of talks in the Indian capital New Delhi, officials said the dedicated and secure hotline between their foreign ministries was intended to “prevent misunderstandings and reduce risks relevant to nuclear issues”.
