Man on bicycle killed by airplane
A biplane drifted off a runway while landing and killed a man riding a bicycle at an airfield in Upper Austria, police said today.
The aircraft was landing at the airstrip at Suben, 110 miles west of Vienna, when it suddenly drifted off the main runway and on to the grassy area toward the perimeter.
The plane hit a member of the local aviation club who was riding his bicycle to fetch a wind sock from the other end of the airfield.
The 67-year-old victim died of head injuries caused by the plane’s propeller.
