Dutroux jury verdict to be revealed today

The jury deliberating the fate of Marc Dutroux and three co-defendants in a horrific Belgian child rape and murder case involving six girls reached a verdict today.

The court in the town of Arlon will convene at 1pm Irish time so Judge Stephane Goux can poll the eight woman, four man, jury on each of the 243 counts.

Dutroux admits kidnapping and sexually abusing two girls, Sabine Dardenne and Laetitia Delhez, who were rescued from a basement prison in his house two days before his 1996 arrest.

But he denies killing two teenagers as well as an alleged accomplice, Bernard Weinstein.

He also denies involvement in the kidnapping and deaths of two eight-year-olds, Julie Lejeune and Melissa Russo, both of whom starved to death in his basement.
