Asylum seekers who are refused permission to live in the UK but cannot immediately leave will be required to perform community work in return for benefits under new proposals tabled in the British House of Commons by Home Secretary David Blunkett today.

Asylum seekers who are refused permission to live in the UK but cannot immediately leave will be required to perform community work in return for benefits under new proposals tabled in the British House of Commons by Home Secretary David Blunkett today.

The move is one of a series of amendments to the Asylum and Immigration Bill designed to clamp down on abuse of the system and clarify the rights and responsibilities of those coming to the UK.
