Five coalition soldiers – two Poles, three Slovaks and a Latvian – were killed in an explosion while defusing mines today.

The blast occurred in Suwayrah, 25 miles south of Baghdad.

The Latvian was the first soldier from that Baltic nation to be killed in Iraq.
