Diana's mother Shand Kydd dies

Frances Shand Kydd, the mother of Diana, Princess of Wales, died today.

A spokesman for Althorp House, the home of Earl Spencer, said: “I can confirm that Lord Spencer’s mother passed away peacefully this morning, after suffering from a long illness, and this is now a private time for the family to grieve.”

The 68-year-old grandmother of British princes William and Harry lived alone on the remote Scottish island of Seil, near Oban.
