Parachutist falls to his death
A man has died after he fell 2,500 feet in a parachuting accident, police said today.
The 39-year-old boarded a Dornier G92 plane with 14 other parachutists at Strathallan air field in Perthshire, Scotland last night before the accident occurred.
As the man left the aircraft over Strathallan, he appeared to become detached from his equipment and fell around 2,500 feet to the ground, police said.
Tayside Police sent out a special search and rescue dog team to comb the area to find the man, who has not been named.
They were assisted by a helicopter crew from RAF Kinloss throughout the night and located the man’s body around 5am today at West Main Farm.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and that a report was being submitted to the procurator fiscal.
