US troops kill six insurgents in Iraq

US forces killed six insurgents during fighting in Tikrit and one soldier was slightly wounded, the military said today.

The insurgents were killed when US forces returned fire after coming under attack with small-arms, rocket propelled grenades, mortars and improvised explosive devices, according to a statement.
