Gaza demolitions are reminder of Nazis, says minister
An Israeli cabinet minister said today that images of the army’s demolition of Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip reminded him of his grandmother, who suffered under Nazi rule during World War II.
Justice Minister Yosef Lapid, a Holocaust survivor who had many family members killed by the Nazi regime, denied comparing the situation in Gaza to the Holocaust. But other ministers made the association and were outraged by his remarks, made during a cabinet meeting.
