Emergency crews were treating casualties today after an explosion at a factory.

The incident is believed to have occurred at Stockline Plastics in Grovepark Street, off Maryhill Road in Glasgow.

The area was sealed off and emergency services were at the scene of the blast, which occurred just after midday.

Strathclyde Fire Brigade said: "We're investigating an explosion and the collapse of a building at Grovepark Street."

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: “Emergency services are attending the scene.

“Casualties are being treated at the scene but we are unaware of the nature or extent of injuries.”

At least two people were feared dead in the explosion.

Another 20 were believed to be trapped in the rubble while another 60 are thought to have been injured.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed it had three special operations teams and a mobile control unit which specialises in handling major incidents at the scene of the blast, along with 16 ambulance crews.
